400,000 Tonnes per Annum Approval Granted for SOILCO’s Bromelton Compost Manufacturing Facility

SOILCO has received approval to develop a new state-of-the-art resource recovery facility in the Bromelton State Development Area (SDA).

SOILCO has received approval to develop a new state-of-the-art resource recovery facility in the Bromelton State Development Area (SDA), marking a significant milestone in expanding organics processing infrastructure across South-East Queensland.

Located approximately 85 kilometers south of Brisbane in the Scenic Rim, the Bromelton Compost Manufacturing Facility will play a key role in supporting Queensland’s transition to a circular economy. Once operational, the facility will be capable of receiving and processing up to 400,000 tonnes of material annually, including composting up to 250,000 tonnes of source-separated organic waste. This material, once destined for landfill, will be transformed into high-quality compost, mulch and soil products for agricultural and landscaping use.

The development forms part of SOILCO’s broader strategy to establish a network of large-scale resource recovery facilities across South-East Queensland and the Northern Rivers. Together with SOILCO’s existing Tweed Organics Processing Facility and planned infrastructure at Pinkenba, the Bromelton facility will strengthen regional resource recovery capacity and provide long-term, reliable processing solutions for councils, commercial waste generators and industry partners.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the Bromelton facility will contribute to regional economic development by creating local employment opportunities and supporting regional businesses. SOILCO has already commenced infrastructure works, including upgrades to Mitchell Road and Beaudesert-Boonah Road.

SOILCO proudly specialises in the design, construction and operation of state-of-the-art organics processing facilities, drawing on more than 50 years of industry experience. The Bromelton facility will incorporate proven, fit-for-purpose processing technologies tailored to the site, feedstocks and regulatory environment, ensuring efficient, compliant and sustainable operations. Operations are expected to commence in late 2026.
